Besides Sabitzer, Rangnick wants former Milan player return

Two midfielders on AC Milan’s radar. In addition to his protege Sabitzer, Rangnick is also considering the return of a former AC Milan player.

Today’s edition of Tuttosport pays close attention to AC Milan’s plans to strengthen the midfield. Alongside the untouchable Ismael Bennacer, the Rossoneri would like a leader of character, with greater international experience than the 23-year-old Algerian.

The name of Marcel Sabitzer is on top of Ralf Rangnick’s transfer list. Rangnick brought Sabitzer first at RB Salzburg and then moved him at RB Leipzig, where he is currently a key player.

The German coach transformed Sabitzer from a classic winger to an all-round midfielder, skilled both in non-possession and as an attacking midfielder. But it will not be easy to snatch the Austrian from from Leipzig who rate Sabitzer at least 35 million euros.

Another name that could be useful for Rangnick is Timoue Bakayoko. The Chelsea midfielder, on-loan at Monaco, has a previously past experience at the Rossoneri in 2018-2019 season.

Bakayoko will leave Monaco at the end of the season and has personally offered himself to AC Milan. The Rossoneri tried unsuccessfully to sign Bakayoko in the summer but the failed sale of Franck Kessie blocked the permanent transfer of Timoue.

Unlike like summer, Chelsea have lowered their asking price for the French midfielder. Now Chelsea are open to selling the 25-year-old for a fee of €25 million. An obstacle for AC Milan is the high salary of 5 million per season of the player. Nevertheless, Timoue Bakayoko’s great desire to return at Milan could facilitate a deal.
